IMPLEMENTATION

  • Our PE programme incorporates a variety of sports to ensure all children develop the confidence, tolerance and the appreciation of their own, and others’, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Pupils participate in weekly high-quality PE and sporting activities coveringtwo different sports/skills per term.
  • Supported by a spots coach, teachers use and adapt the “Complete PE” scheme of work to ensure curriculum progression.
  • We provide opportunities for all children to engage in extra-curricular activities during and after school, in addition to competitive sporting events. This is an inclusive approach which endeavours to encourage not only physical development but also well-being.
  • Children are encouraged to be competitive though intra and inter school sports events, as well as our annual sports day.
  • This year children in years 4 and 5 will attend swimming lessons in the Summer Term.

IMPACT

The curriculum is the progression model. If pupils are able to demonstrate they are able to know and remember more against our curriculum expectations they are making good progress and attaining expected standards.

Pupils are assessed through informal assessment techniques, including questioning and short retrieval activities.
